The articles should be submitted to the Board of Editors of the journal: etnolog@istorija.lt
Preparation and submission of manuscripts
Papers should generally be no longer than 10,000 words (including abstracts, summary, footnotes and list of references). Each article should be accompanied by two short abstracts of no more than 100 words (in English and Lithuanian), and five key words, followed by the author’s name, academic affiliation, institutional address and email address. The article concludes with a list of references, followed by a summary in Lithuanian (ca. 800 words).
All contributions should be typed in Type 12, double-spaced and in Microsoft Word format, using only two formatting styles: ‘Normal’ and ‘Footnote Text’.
Quotations should be given in quotation marks (single). Quotations of more than 40 words should be set off from the text with an extra line of space above and below, and typed without quotation marks but using smaller-size font (size 10). The quotation marks in the list of references should be as in the publications.
In-text referencing should be given in standard author-date form in the body of the text with the author’s last name, year of publication, and page number provided in parentheses, e.g.: (Geertz 1995: 15). In-text referencing of multiple publications by the same author published in the same year are separated by adding the letter ‘a’, ‘b’ etc. to the year of publication, and a semi-colon in between (Geertz 1995a; Geertz 1995b). References to archival material (if any) should be given in the text as well, e.g.: (LIIBR F 73, b. 5, l. 16 – Manuscript Depository at the Lithuanian Institute of History, Collection 73, File 5, Page 16).
Notes should be presented as footnotes, and should be kept short and to the minimum.
A complete list of references cited in the paper, including those in the footnotes, as well as web references, should be arranged alphabetically by author’s surname, and should be typed at the end of the article. Multiple publications by the same author should be listed in chronological order, starting from the earliest. References to archival material do not appear in this list. If necessary, these are described in the footnotes.
The list of illustrations should be presented at the end of the article, and according to copyright requirements. Each illustration must be submitted in a separate file.
